| eKartingNews.com Preparing for Next ‘Trackside Live’ Broadcast at Rock Island Grand Prix |
| |
A favorite stop on the racing calendar every year is the annual Rock Island Grand Prix. The Mississippi River city, which makes up one-quarter of the Quad City region of the Illinois/Iowa border, hosts karters from all across the country each Labor Day weekend. This year’s event is set for September 3-4 and will be the 17th running of the race, which puts karters on a fast 6/10-mile city street course that is like no other. eKartingNews.com is happy that it will be bringing its ‘Trackside Live’ coverage to the event for the second straight year.
A jam-packed two days of action make up the Rock Island Grand Prix and EKN will be there to stream the live audio feed of event announcer and website publisher Rob Howden to everyone at home through its ‘Trackside Live’ page - http://www.ekartingnews.com/live . Fifteen categories - all racing for the coveted ‘Rock’ trophy - will qualify on Saturday with the main events set for Sunday, all to broadcast live through EKN Trackside Live.
“The Rock Island Grand Prix is among the best events in the country by far,” stated EKN News Desk Manager David Cole. “After testing the waters with an informal live audio stream in 2009, we returned to Rock Island last year with full online coverage both days. The same is to be expected this time around and the racing should be even better with all the cash and prizes on the line this year. We are also in the process of working with the developers of Race Monitor to be able to provide quicker live timing feed as well.”
The first three EKN Trackside Live events of the 2011 season enjoyed a significant increase in viewership from last year’s editions, signally that we’re building a strong base of active listeners. This year’s Rock Island Grand Prix is projected to follow the trend, as we’re certain that people across the country will be tuning into to hear the action from the new Pro Open class, as well as who takes home the big money in the TaG Senior, Yamaha SuperCan Medium and King of the Streets races.
It takes the support of our advertisers to be able to bring these broadcasts to the karting community, and a pair of companies have already signed on as advertisers for this year’s event – SKS/Team Arrow and FirestoneKartInfo.com.
SKS, stands for Southern Karting Specialists, and they are the newest full-service Arrow kart dealer, located in Tampa, Florida. Under the direction of Tony Tesoro, the new operation plans on full race support at most Florida-based karting series, along with the Rotax Pan American Challenge and SKUSA SuperNationals. The operation has new Arrow chassis in stock and still has room under their tent for the ‘off-season’ at the 2012 Florida Winter Tour. A new website is in the works, and it can be checked out at http://www.southernkartingspecialists.com
FirestoneKartInfo.com is a subscription-based monthly newsletter service aimed at providing tips for all different levels of the sport, from the raw beginner to those looking for that extra edge. Created by experienced driver Nick Firestone, the newsletter covers all aspects of karting and is enjoying a growing readership. Check out http://www.FirestoneKartInfo.com for more on this valuable archive.
There are still broadcast sponsorships available, and any companies wishing to be part of the action should contact Rob Howden directly via rhowden@howdenmediagroup.com or 519-223-1152.
