Only one round before the end of the season, the WSK Euro Series has not disclosed its champions yet. With this data an amazing weekend has ended at La Conca, in Muro Leccese (Italy), with the third and penultimate round of the WSK’s continental series. From the preliminary phase until today’s Finals, unexpected winners as well as upsets shift now the aspirant champions to the last round in Zuera, Spain, the coming July 31.
ALBON IS THE NEW KF1 STAR
English Alex Albon (Intrepid-TM-Vega) has been the new KF1 star, winning Final 2 by lengthening his stride so much that none of his adversaries could stand the pace. Dutch Nyck De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) that came to Apulia with the possibility of winning the title beforehand, vainly chased Albon throughout the race without ever closing the gap on the adversary. In the duel for third place, the winner was Polish Karol Basz (RK-BMB-Vega) trained by his countryman the F.1 driver Robert Kubica. Basz pursued for a first half of the race Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) that withstanding third was forced to stop later for a mechanical failure. In KF1 ranking, De Vries is always at the top but his lead over Albon has gone down to 64 points. It will be the 88 points at stake in the closing round in Spain to establish the winner.
DREEZEN REGAINS KZ1 LEADERSHIP
Apulian weekend didn’t start well for Rick Dreezen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). Arrived as KZ1 leader, the Belgian driver has been overtook by Dutch Bas Lammers (Intrepid-TM-Vega) that won Final 1 yesterday. With a drop in temperature today, Dreezen showed to be pugnacious again, starting Final 2 in pole position along with his teammate Marco Ardigò. The Belgian guy was fast in taking the lead whereas Ardigò got a ten-second penalty due to a mistake in the start. Behind them, Antonio Piccioni (Parolin-TM-Vega) at his best, was successful in pushing and stealing the second place from Beitske Visser (Intrepid-TM-Vega). Therefore, Dreezen is again at the top of the ranking at 19-point lead over Lammers, now third. In the same race, Dutch Dylan Davies (PCR-TM-Vega) has dominated KZ2 separate ranking ahead of Swedish Joel Johansson (Energy-TM-Vega) and Douglas Lundberg (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). In this class, Johansson is always at the top, above the winner of yesterday’s Final 1, Mirko Torsellini (CRG-Maxter-Vega).
ORUDZHEV WINS AT THE START IN KF2
Springing forward at the start, Egor Orudzhev (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) secured victory. As a matter of fact, the first stage of the race was hotly contested, which widened the gap between the Russian guy and the pursuers. Among them, Roman Damiano Fioravanti (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) was sure to achieve a second place but he was overtaken by both Russian Pavel Rudakov (Tony Kart-BMB-Vega) and Italian Paolo Ippolito (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega) before pulling out. In the ranking, the leader is always Stefano Cucco (Birel-BMB-Vega).
OLSEN’S FIRST WIN IN KF3
Norwegian Dennis Olsen (Energy-TM-Vega) avoided a touch that involved many of the favourites in the formation lap, which cleared the way for taking the lead. Canadian twelve-year-old Lance Stroll (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) emerged victorious from the brawl for second place, which he hold until crossing the post ahead of French Esteban Ocon (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega). Olsen has narrowed at 29 points his gap with the leader Max Verstappen (CRG-Parilla-Vega) that didn’t compete due to muscle strain. |
