| Showtime 2011: Previewing This Winter’s Kart Shows, Swap Meets & Seminars |

During the winter months, a majority of the karters in this country do not enjoy the benefits of warm weather to continue their racing, while others simply take the time to recharge for the upcoming season. That said, over the course of the next two months, karters in the northern states will brave the elements to travel to expos and swap meets, looking for that next deal or a product that they have been looking for. These gatherings bring the community together, essentially helping to kick-off the new year. To help the karters plan their off-season weekend travel, EKN has compiled a short list of some of the popular off-season events.

Now in its second year, The Kart Show is enjoying significant growth from the previous year. The event is a trade show that features some of the top kart manufacturers, seminars, a live concert and indoor oval kart racing - ‘Kart Knights at the Concrete Castle’. 21st annual Mid-State Kart Club Swap Meet & Vendor Show

The Mid-State Kart Club will be hosting their 21st swap meet and vendor show in central Illinois. The Midwest is a hotbed of karting, so both sprint and oval disciplines will be represented. The organizers have had a ton of interest from karters as well as prominent shops and race series from the area.

25th annual Ohio Valley Karting Association Swap Meet

One of the biggest swap meets of the season takes place in Ohio thanks to the OVKA organization. With over 200 booths, attendees and karters from Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio converge to offer plenty of options and selection choices for their next purchase or looking over new products on the market.

5th annual Kankakee Swap Meet & Trade Show

The northeastern Illinois show is slowly growing into another popular winter destination for karters. The show is a replacement of the GEM Promotions swap meet held in the suburbs of Chicago for so many years. This year’s show is expected to house vendors from seven different states spread out over 120 booths.

A new show will debut in 2011 at the same facility that hosted the Kart Expo International for a number of years in western Chicago. The purpose of the new expo is to bring together all forms and facets of the action sports industry. Karting is expected to be a portion of the show along with other non-motorized sports, exposing the genre to a new audience.

MRP Winter Seminar Series

The popular MRP Winter Seminar Series is back for the 2010-2011 season. The five-month program incorporates nearly everything having to do with building your knowledge and helping you gain that extra edge. Winter Maintenance/Brake System Service, Yamaha/KPV Clutch and Carburetion, Data Acquisition, Rotax Engines and the Trackside Chassis Theory and Dynamic course map out the five different seminars, some taken place at the MRP headquarters with others at the Chicago Indoor Racing in Addison, IL.
