PROgression: High Point Racing - Brandon Davis
In the next few weeks, High Point Racing will be taking starting their 22nd season as a race team and their sixth season as a Driver Development program at Toyota Speedway at Irwin dale. Having already announced the return of Travis Motley and Dallas Colodny, the multi-car Late Model team is looking pretty stacked for the upcoming season.

One driver that brings with him an impressive letter of recommendation is Brandon Davis. As part of their driver development alliance with Bill McAnally Racing, Brandon was referred to High Point Racing to develop his skills on the half-mile oval before advancing to drive the K&N Series in 2011. “Brandon brings an impressive resume, a great recommendation from Bill, and a huge commitment to transition to NASCAR and succeed” said team owner, Tim Huddleston.

Huddleston had already filled the available seats in his late model program when he was approached by McAnally to field a car at Toyota Speedway for the 23 year old driver. Based on his racing experience, Huddleston agreed to meet the young driver during the Toyota All Star Showdown. “Brandon’s experience and his personality were an instant fit with the HPR program. He definitely has shown that he is a natural talent behind a racecar and it’s up to us to help develop his skills on a circle track,” Huddleston commented. Davis will drive the #56 car for the 2010. Davis will be heading to the K&N Pro Series in 2011.

Aside from racing go-karts since he was twelve years old, Brandon’s experience comes from the Speed World GT Challenge. In 2009, Davis won the Driver’s Championship in the touring series while competing with a full bodied Ford Mustang Cobras. En route to his Championship Davis took the victory at Mid Ohio. He’s excited about his transition to NASCAR, but realizes the difficulty ahead of him.

“Obviously I would like to get to the point where I am consistently competing for race wins,” Davis said. “However, I know there will be quite a learning curve and therefore I want to see how I do in the car initially in order to have a better idea of my long term goals.”

High Point Racing is a Driver Development Program that fields cars in four divisions at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. High Point Racing would like to thank all of their sponsors for their support: Gilley’s at Treasure Island, Justice Brothers, Extreme Wrench, Applied Computer Solutions, Sunrise Ford, Lupton Excavation, Racecar Factory, Liz-Zard Racing Engines, Ron’s Rear Ends, Central Valley Auto Body and Swift Springs.
