New Castle Motorsports Park Announces 2010 Schedule

New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana has just released their 2010 schedule, with a busy yet historic year forecasted for the 1 mile sprint track.

Mark Dismore Sr., owner of NCMP said, "We are very excited to bring some of the biggest races in the United States right here to Central Indiana. I think the 2010 schedule is the biggest and the best yet for New Castle and I'm looking forward to watching some of the best karters in the country compete at NCMP. I might even join them on track in a couple events!"

The 2010 season will kick off on Saturday March 13th for the official opening day of practice at NCMP. The home club at NCMP, the Kart Racers of America, will start off the 2010 race season with their first round of fourteen on Sunday, March 28th. The second weekend in April will see the first of two races at NCMP for the WSK North American Series on April 9-11 followed by the Great Lakes Pro Series on April 17-18. Saturday, April 17th will also have an event on the NCMP oval with the Young Guns Oval Series and a special non-points KRA oval race. May will see two KRA club races on the road course as well as the new Rotax Max Challenge race at NCMP on Saturday, May 1st to allow karters to qualify for the highly anticipated US Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals coming to NCMP in July. Also in May, the SKUSA Central States series will return for an event on the 15th and 16th.

June will be an exciting month with the Rotax Pan American Challenge race on the 11th through the 13th with the following weekend seeing the Vintage Kart Association returning for the second straight year. June will also be a busy month for KRA club races with 3 events during the month. KRA will also have a double header on July 3rd and 4th which will mark the second half of the KRA season.

July 10th will kick off the start of the Rotax Grand Nationals with open practice through the 12th with the race weekend starting on the 15th. July will also see the annual "Race for Riley" karting event with hundreds of fans on hand for the charity karting event that raises money for Riley's Children Hospital on Wednesday the 21st.

A new addition for this year's "Race for Riley" will be the Ironman 100 TaG Endurance Race. The Ironman 100 is a single driver 100 mile event that will require at least one pit stop. With the Brickyard 400 in town that weekend hopefully some NASCAR and IndyCar drivers will be able to attend and race in the Ironman 100. That weekend will also see a combined WKA Great Lakes Sprint Series and WKA Midwest Sprint Series divisional race bringing together some of the best Midwest racers in one event!

Straddling July into August will be the Route 66 traveling series, providing one last chance to tune up for the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series race, on July 31st and August 1st. The following weekend will be one of the largest and most anticipated events of the season with the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series national on August 6th through the 8th. The next weekend will see the return of the CKI series for their second trip to NCMP in 2010. The next weekend will be a dual event with the WKA Gold Cup Series running on the one mile road course and the WKA Pavement series running their event on NCMP's 1/4 mile oval. NCMP will close out a very busy August with the KRA Series on Saturday the 29th.

September will be a KRA extravaganza with 5 KRA events in 4 weekends including one double header weekend on the 25th and 26th.

The TAG World Championships will return to NCMP after a couple year absence with their event on October 1st through the 3rd. The NCMP race season will finish out on October 9th and 10th with the annual Mazda RoboPong 200 Presented by Bridgestone TaG endurance race featuring teams of 2 to 4 drivers with pitstops, refueling and driver changes. The Kart Racers of America will have their season ending banquet at NCMP on Saturday November 6th.

Oval racers, stay tuned to the NCMP website as they anticipate more oval races will be added to the calendar for 2010. KRA has also added a Clone engine class for the road course this season. For complete class rules see the NCMP website. NCMP is also working on expanding raceday coverage outside the track with live scoring on the internet as well as working on some other exciting technological updates.
