Once again the Tony Kart-Vortex race on the iced lake in Madonna di Campiglio was a great show. The traditional challenge between Ferrari and Ducati drivers was characterized, as always, by great professionalism and perfect organization of our staff, engaged in an unique contest. Tony Kart and Vortex provided the karts to F1 Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella and to Ducati Moto GP riders, Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden. They challenged each other on the unmistakable scenery of the 20th “WROOOM International F1 & Moto GP Press Ski Meeting”.

The karts provided by Tony Kart and Vortex were the Racer EVR equipped with Super Rok engine, this successful union is synonym of great reliability and fantastic performances, also on ice. The Karts, with a personalized design for each driver, were provided with particular technical details in order to grant the best performances also in this “unusual” karting competition. The chassis were higher than usual, on each side there were three spacers: two big and one small. Both torsion bars, front and rear, were assembled on the kart. The tires used on the ice had 40 nails (9mm long) divided into two lines. The rear brake was covered by a protection for the snow, so as the lower part of the carburetor.

Moreover, since it was very cold (under 0°) the carburetor was warmed by a thermo-resistance directly connected to the battery. The intake filter was covered by a further semi carter that protected it by the snow. The race was really interesting especially thanks to a fight between the pole man Felipe Massa and the team-mate Fernando Alonso. In the end the race was won by the Kentucky Kid, alias Nicky Hayden.
