WSK International Series to Honor 2009 Champions December 4

After travelling across Europe with seven exciting rounds from February to November, the WSK International Series long tour has just ended. The international karting world will attend however a final meeting with the upcoming 2009 WSK Champions award ceremony.

A richly deserved closing night putting the finishing touches to such a demanding season as the WSK International Series: that’s the WSK Grand Gala, an event that, as the past year, is scheduled in the elegant setting of the Sporting Club Monza, on December 4. In this location, the Drivers title winners as well as the team managers representing the champions in the four EuroCup categories will be awarded in the presence of the Italian motorsport highest Authorities and the leading Manufacturers in the international karting sport.

At the WSK Grand Gala, the four class winning drivers will be the main guests of honour appearing before the invited international press. They are the Super KF champion French Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG-Maxter-Bridgestone), Dutch Bas Lammers (Intrepid-TM-Vega), winning KZ2, KF2 winner English Ben Cooper (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) and Dutch Nick De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla-Dunlop) once again successful in KF3. In EuroCup, the prize will be presented to the representatives of the team CRG (Super KF), Intrepid Kart Technology (KZ2) and Tony Kart Junior Racing team (KF2 and KF3).

In 2009 the CSAI, Italian automobile sporting authority, has introduced within the WSK an award to give due merit to Italian drivers. Such a motive gave birth to the International Cup by CSAI, a prize to the best Italian drivers in the breeding ground. Therefore, Sauro Cesetti from Ascoli (Birel-Parilla-Bridgestone Super KF), Marco Ardigò from Brescia (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega KZ2) Matteo Viganò from Bergamo (Birel-Parilla-Bridgestone KF2) and Raffaele Marciello from Caserta (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) have been selected. Acknowledged as the best qualified drivers in the relative classes, they will be given the opportunity to attend the CSAI Federal Course, with potential selection to 2010 CSAI Super-Course. In addition, the one emerging from the Course as the best of the four prize-winners will benefit from a further opportunity: the President of CSAI, Mr. Angelo Sticchi Damiani will however reveal such a move during the award ceremony.

Well, the ideas concerning the Youth Project by CSAI are materializing. The National Authority intends to give birth to a chain that starting from karting and via the Formula Azzurra may lead young talent quickly to F.3, to support then the more deserving drivers up to F.1. Involving the WSK International Series, such a plan will give further stature to the karting showcase devised by WSK Promotion, namely the first private organizer to give an award officially sponsored by the National Sporting Authority.
