The newest release of the EKN Constructors’ Championship incorporates the last two Championship Karting International events - Grand Prix of New Jersey and the Grand Prix of California. Continuing on from the last release in June, Top Kart continues to hold the number one position with CRG and Tony Kart fighting it out for the second spot.

Top Kart upped the top score to 163 points at the New Jersey event while Tony Kart nearly matched that with 161 at the California round. CRG has continued to stay consistent, scoring close to both numbers to remain in second position in the standings.

Top Kart’s New Jersey record score was thanks in part to the two victories by Taylor Miinch. The June EKN Driver of the Month scored the feature win in both IAME Junior and KF3 in his Team Top Kart USA entry. Podium finishes from Kyle Wiegand (Team Top Kart USA) and Neil McCoy (Team PKS) in the IAME Senior category help boost the score. Others scoring points included Tyler Thomas (Team Top Kart USA), Chris Wehrheim (Team Top Kart USA), Neil Alberico (Kartel Motorsports) and Alex Grandahl (Kartel Motorsports).

Two victories in the top Senior divisions helped CRG score just six points less than Top Kart in New Jersey. SSC East’s Gary Carlton and Arie Ouimet took the victory in the KZ2 and KF2 divisions, along with points from the Prefinals. Fritz Leesmann (PSL Karting) ran second to Carlton in the KZ2 division to add a good chunk of points. Phil DeLaO (SSC East) also doubled up points in the KF3 and IAME Junior divisions. Mark Pellegrini (SSC East) along with privateers Jimmy Fatum and Camden Geise added more points.

Kosmic was third with three J3 Competition drivers scoring points. Richard Benitez and Tristan DeGrand stood on the podium in KF2 and KF3 while Shin Iguchi added extra points in KF2. Intrepid and Italkart tied for fourth with 54 points each while Tony Kart completed the top-five.

Tony Kart was the top point scorer at the recent Grand Prix of California earlier this month, just two points short of the 163 record set at New Jersey. Three double wins in the KF2, KF3 and IAME Junior divisions put them at the top for the weekend. Alex Speed (Wunder-Bar Racing) was the top driver in the KF2 division, adding two third-place finishes in the KZ2 category as well. Gustavo Menezes (Tony Kart West) dominated the Junior fields, scoring a perfect 60 points himself. Will Martindale (Wunder-Bar Racing), Joe Paterson (Team PBIR/Screaming Talent) Cole Loftsgard (Tony Kart West) and Carlee Taylor (Tony Kart West) also earned points over the weekend.

CRG was second to Tony Kart at CalSpeed, gaining just a few points on Top Kart as they were separated by just four points on the weekend. Carlton (PCH Motorsports/SSC East) and Joey Licata Jr. (SSC Racing) each scored the Prefinal and Final victories in the KZ2 and IAME Senior divisions. DeLaO scored nearly 30 markers from his results in KF3 and IAME Junior. Jacob Neal (PCH Motorsports) was second to Carlton in both the Prefinal and Final. Geise, Sabre Cook (Critical Zone Motorsports), and Mike Herda also added to CRG’s California total.

Top Kart earned five podium finishes in three classes at the CKI GP of California. Chris Wehrheim (Team Top Kart USA) and Brendan Phinny (Kartel Motorspots) were second and third in KF2 while Michael Hogg and Neil Alberico - both under the Kartel Motorsports tent - matched their results in IAME Senior. Taylor Miinch (Team Top Kart USA) was second in the IAME Junior field while placing fifth in the KF3 final. Neil McCoy (Team PKS) and Kiel Spaulding (Kartel Motorsports) gained seven points each from their Prefinal results. Kosmic and Intrepid completed the top-five from the CalSpeed weekend.

Top Kart leads overall heading into the CKI Grand Championship event in October with CRG solid in the second spot. Tony Kart is in third with Kosmic close behind. Intrepid rounds out the top-five with Italkart inching in.
