| Northern Nevada Kart Club Preparing for 2009 IKF 2 Cycle Sprint Grand Nationals |
| |
Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) is proud to be host of the 2009 IKF 2 Cycle Sprint Grand Nationals. Set to compete at the club’s home track of Desert Park Raceway in Reno, Nevada, the event is being billed as the biggest and most prolific Grand National to date with large fields expected to compete along with the atmosphere surrounding the event to complete the package. NNKC is happy to announce that pre-registration for the July 21-25, 2009 event is now open.
“We are very excited about the upcoming event,” commented NNKC President Brian Rivera. “We are looking forward to everyone traveling to the Reno area to experience the hospitality we will be offering. The racing is going to be fantastic and I am counting down the days to the first official day. We are asking everybody wanting to participate in this year’s event to begin registering now so we can have a better idea of the crowd expected for many different activities we have in store.”
NNKC is looking to add to the excitement of the event with many non-racing activities planned throughout the event for all the racers and their families to enjoy, including bowling, movie nights, and volleyball. In addition to the schedule racing events, NNKC will be hosting a kart race for the many mechanics in attendance along with a vintage kart race that will bring in some historic machines from karting’s past. Also, stunt kart driver Richard Kennedy is scheduled to demonstrate his ‘kart on two wheels’ performance.
This year’s primary event sponsor is Kartel Motorsports. Founded by veteran pro racer Joey Hand and pro karter Erik Bartolero in 2006, Kartel is the official Top Kart factory team in the United States and Northern California’s exclusive Top Kart dealer. Class sponsors also supporting the event include Scribner Plastics, Team Race Chic, Badd Boyz Racing, MMS Racing Engines, TH Installation and Kinsmen Kart Club. Product sponsors for the event will be Molecule Labs, Kart King Creations and Zamp Helmets.
Pre-registration, practice and pit parking information can be found at many different locations on the web. Of course, all information on the Grand Nationals can be found at the IKF website (ikfkarting.com) along with event partners NorCalKarters.com and WestCoastKarters.com.
The primary designated hotel for the event will be the Grand Sierra Resort (grandsierraresort.com) with the secondary designated hotel being the John Ascuaga’s Nugget (janugget.com). When booking your stay, please make sure to mention you are with the IKF Grand Nationals. The first 20 ‘early birds’ to register for hotel accommodations will be entered to win a gift basket from Bev Ban, valued at over $100 and also be entered to win a ‘free’ one night stay at the either hotel courtesy of Northern Nevada Kart Club. Confirmation numbers must be sent to Bev Ban at speedwaynut@msn.com to include your name into the drawing.
“We are proud to have Kartel Motorsports and the rest of the supporting companies on our team for what’s going to be a fantastic event,” continued Rivera. “NNKC's Grand National Committee has worked extremely hard to make all these accommodations happen for you, the racer, and your family to have the best experience possible when coming up to Reno in July. We look forward to seeing you all here racing and enjoying the life in ‘the biggest little city in the world, Reno, Nevada!”
