SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30
History was made for the United States at the final day of action at this year’s Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals. Over the last few years, the Rotax program within the United States has certainly improved steadily and each year at the Grand Finals the red, white, and blue have continued to challenge the best from around the world. The La Conca International Circuit was host for the event this year and provided a backdrop for some great racing. It will also go down in history as the site where Florida pilot Stuart Marsell earned a third place finish in DD2, the highest ever by an American, while Curtis Cooksey was second in the DD2 Masters division to be the first ever drivers from the United States to stand on the podium at the Grand Finals.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 29
The Saturday action at this year’s Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals displayed both extremes of success for the North American contingent, as the day began with the final round of heats and ended with the Last Chance Qualifiers in the three categories. Some drivers raced their way into the final action on Sunday thanks to successful runs in the LCQs, while others saw their Grand Finals experiences cut short when they failed to earn a transfer position into the Prefinal. The USA and Canadian teams experienced mixed results with drivers coming home early, however, there are still many drivers still in the hunt.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28
After hitting the track for the first time on Wednesday, the US and Canadian teams attending this year’s Rotax Grand Finals headed into the official qualifying sessions on Thursday in La Conca, Italy. They proceeded to begin the wheel-to-wheel competition on Friday with the running of the first two rounds of heats. Weather most certainly played a factor, as while the track was dry on Thursday, rain came overnight, greeting the competitors with a wet track for warm-up and a damp circuit for the opening round of heats. The rain returned after the lunch break, bringing a new challenge to the international field, giving those with rain prowess the chance to make some noise in the standings.
