| Da Matta and Negri Confirmed for RDD Motorsports at All-Stars Karting Classic |
| |
The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series is pleased to announce that Cristiano Da Matta and Oswaldo Negri Jr will compete with RDD Motorsports at the 2008 Performance Racing Industry (PRI) All-Stars Karting Classic. Taking place on December 11 just outside the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, the two Brazilian natives will look to carry RDD Motorsports and Kart Mini to victory lane in the annual event.
“The list just keeps growing,” stated Snap-on Stars of Karting Series President Paul Zalud. “The 2008 event will be bigger than last year and the talent level and big name drivers coming out to participate are awesome. I have no doubt that both our master and karter divisions will reach their caps.”
Da Matta enters the PRI All-Stars Karting classic with a wealth of racing experience. Having competed in the Champ Car World Series for Newman Haas Racing and then in Formula One, Da Matta entered the world of closed wheel racing this year as he competed with AIM Autosport in their Daytona Prototype at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. Joining series long drivers Mark Wilkins and Brian Frisselle, the trio scored a solid sixth place result.
Oswaldo Negri Jr. will round out the RDD Motorsports driver lineup as he moves from his Michael Shank Racing Ford Riley to a Parilla Leopard powered Kart Mini. 2008 saw Negri score nine top ten results in Daytona Prototype competition including a race win at New Jersey Motorsports Park at the end of August as well as the prestigious pole position at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
“To have these two high profile drivers is very exciting,” explained Stars of Karting Marketing Director Jeff Swoboda. “I know RDD Motorsports is planning to make a big splash in national level competition in 2009 and they are looking to kick that off at the PRI All-Stars Karting Classic.”
Da Matta and Negri are just another three drivers added to this already stellar line-up. The three Kart Mini pilots join Buddy Rice, Scott Speed, Towsend Bell, Jamie McMurray, Nelson Phillipe, Jan Heylan and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the Masters division. A series of further driver announcements are forthcoming for this prestigious event.
