McMurray, Philippe, Heylen and Hunter-Reay Set to Battle at All-Stars Karting Classic

The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series and SSC East are pleased to announce their driver lineup for the 2008 Performance Racing Industry (PRI) All-Stars Karting Classic to be held in Orlando, Florida. Competing in the Masters division will be NASCAR driver Jamie McMurray, recent IndyCar race winner Ryan Hunter-Reay, newly announced GP2 driver Nelson Philippe and former Champ Car World Series driver Jan Heylen.

Joining the four professional drivers will be Intercontinental C (ICC) standout and last year’s PRI All-Stars Karting Classic Karter Division champion Gary Carlton as well as TaG front runner Michael Lewis. Both drivers are excited about sharing their paddock space with four of today’s motorsports stars and are looking to take the top spots in the karter division to garner a transfer to the back of the Master class and ensure wheel-to-wheel competition with the pros.
“The drivers that are looking to compete in this event is just amazing,” stated Snap-on Stars of Karting Series President Paul Zalud. “These four competitors will all have a shot at the Masters title. Two of them are returning from the 2007 show and will know what to expect when the green flag flies on the evening of December 11th.”

McMurray, who competes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the Rousch Fenway #26 Crown Royal sponsored Ford Fusion, actively see’s action in both his shifter and TaG packages and looks to be upfront in the Master class. Joining McMurray will be Rahal Letterman racing Ryan Hunter-Reay. The Ethanol backed pilot scored his first career IndyCar Series victory this season at Watkins Glen and also had a strong run at the Indianapolis 500 where he came home sixth.

Also teaming up with SSC East is former Champ Car driver and new GP2 and A1GP competitor Nelson Philippe. The Florida based driver was the surprise of the 2007 show turning some very quick lap times and battled hard for the Masters Division win. Heylen, who began karting back in 1992, will be back for his second PRI event as he looks to build off the experience gained at last year’s event.

“We are glad to have SSC East’s driver lineup announced for the PRI All-Stars Karting Classic,” explained Jeff Swoboda. “With four Masters Competitors and three karters, SSC East will be looking to claim the victories in both classes.”

“We have a host of karting drivers that will also be joining the pro guys,” stated SSC East’s Dave Davies. “We had a good season this year and we are hoping to cap it off by doing the double at the PRI All-Stars Karting Classic.”

With a host of driver announcements and news forthcoming, please stay tuned to http://www.StarsofKarting.com for your up-to-date information. The PRI show takes place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida from December 11 – 13th with the All-Stars Karting Classic taking place on the evening of December 11h. Admission to the event is free along with your PRI show credential.
