 | Four ICC wins for CRG helps keep the lead in the EKN Constructors' Championship heading into the National Finals

With both divisional schedules completed on the Snap-on Stars of Karting program, CRG holds the lead in the overall standings heading into the National Finals in October while also clinching both divisional standings. Thought they did not score the highest totals at the Eastern Finale in Shawano or the Western Finale in Seattle, CRG holds a mere 26-point advantage over Top Kart with Intrepid just 13-markers back in third.
The Eastern Finale at the USA International Raceway in Shawano, WI saw Top Kart leave the weekend with the highest total of 60 points. The Team Top Kart USA squad with support from Kartel Motorsports scored in the TaG and JICA divisions, led by Taylor Miinch’s Final 2 victory in JICA. Miinch also added a runner-up finish along with Brendan Phinny while Wiegand was third and sixth with Neil Alberico and Chris Wehrheim scoring finishes of fourth and fifth. Tyler Thomas also added a fifth place finish in JICA. There performance however was not enough to take the Eastern Division title as CRG posted a 176 score over the three events to Top Kart’s 152 points.
Intrepid was third in the East however was tops following this past weekend at the Seattle Grand Prix for the Western Division Finale with the best weekend score of the season - 73 points. Together with Champion Racing and Leading Edge Motorsports, Intrepid score points in eleven of a possible twelve spots. Three wins added to the high score as Joey Wimsett swept the TaG division while Timmy Bachman put in an impressive run in the rain for his first Stars JICA win. Lead ICC driver Jordy Vorrath put in third place runs twice on Sunday with teammate Cody Jolly placing fifth and ninth. Mason Marotta had a strong weekend in JICA as well with a fifth and eighth as Brett Felkins added a podium run in Final 2. Troy Diede gave Intrepid two more points in TaG with a ninth place finish. CRG continued to post points up as well and earned the Western Division crown with a total of 165. Intrepid was a close second with 159 points and Top Kart ending in third.
Heading into the National Finals, set for October 10-12 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the top three will battle to the end to be crowned the 2008 EKN Constructors’ Champion.

EKN Constructors’ Championship - Stars of Karting
The EKN Constructors' Championship is calculated using only top ten finishes in the ICC, Stars TaG and JICA divisions. Each constructor will count their top two finishes in each class. Points will be awarded with a first place finish earning 10 points, down to a single point for a tenth place result.
