It last only one month before CRG was back on top of the EKN Constructors’ Championship. Following last month’s take over by Intrepid, CRG returned to the number one position following last weekend’s Mazda Race of the Americas - the East vs. West battle of the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IndyCar Series. At the New Castle Motorsports Park, CRG earned five podium finishes including two wins - none of which by ICC pilot Gary Carlton - for a point total of 69.

With Gary Carlton recording a DNF in both finals for the first time in his long streak of success, the Cameron Motorsports squad stepped up to put up the points for CRG. In ICC, Michael Vincec was on Carlton’s bumper all weekend long, recording the victory in Final 1 while placing third in Final 2. Australian Scott Saunders had his break out event after struggling in the opening two events. Saunders blitzed the TaG field in Final 1 for the win while placing a solid second in Final 2. New to the Canadian team, Miles Maroney is no stranger to the CRG brand, winner two races last year as a privateer. This weekend, he ran in the top five all weekend, placing fourth and third. Also in ICC, PSL Karting’s Josh Schreiber and Fritz Leesmann added points with a fifth and a fourth while defending JICA national champion Jarvis Gennari (SSC East) rebounded from a flip to place 10th and eighth in the features.

Intrepid fell to second on the overall standings with the third best total from the weekend 35 points. Champion Racing’s Joey Wimsett scored a fifth and a fourth in TaG to lead the orange brand. His teammates in ICC, Jordy Vorrath, Cody Jolly, and Ryan Kinnear each had one top-10 finish, placing fourth, seventh, and tenth respectively. Leading Edge Motorsports’ Mason Marotta had his best performance thus far, running eight in Final 1 and fourth in Final 2 for his best finish on the season.

Still holding third but gaining ground on Intrepid is the Top Kart brand with 50 additional points - the second best on the weekend. With no ICC driver on the Team Top Kart USA squad, the brand relies on TaG and JICA for their points, in which they are doing very well. Kyle Wiegand made his return to Stars in TaG with home track knowledge and placed third in both finals. Californian Chris Scribner continues to run at the front, finishing sixth and fifth on the weekend. Brendan Phinny and Taylor Miinch represented Top Kart in JICA with a podium each - second place for Phinny and third for Miinch - with an additional fifth place added by Phinny.

Two drivers kept Tony Kart in fourth place overall - though the two drivers posted fantastic results for a fourth highest tally on the weekend. Phil De La O (Advanced Karting) went home with both JICA victories on the weekend, adding 20 points to the green total while Tatiana Calderon (Tony Kart USA) was second and sixth in the same class.

Despite a tough event, Sodi Kart remains fifth after scoring only one point - Ryan Yop in ICC - as the G-Phactory/Sodi Racing USA squad will look to rebound in Shawano. Making up ground on the weekend was Kosmic as the J3 Competition drivers posted the sixth best weekend total (23) and Italkart with the Italian Motorsports pilots scoring the fifth highest score (32) to move up to sixth and seventh overall. Trackmagic also performed well with both drivers scoring points twice on the weekend to move into the top-10 overall behind Maranello and a falling First Kart.

EKN Constructors' Championship - Stars of Karting
The EKN Constructors' Championship is calculated using only top ten finishes in the ICC, Stars TaG and JICA divisions. Each constructor will count their top two finishes in each class. Points will be awarded with a first place finish earning 10 points, down to a single point for a tenth place result.
