For racing you will want a Kid Kart not a Micro Kart. The Honda kid kart motor is what most are racing these days as well but it would be best to confirm with the local tracks and clubs you would race with. A Kid Kart chassis is never stressed much so they last a long time and buying used is a good option as well.June 26, 2015 at 8:20 am #50579
The Snell specification for youth helmets is CMR2007 and there is also a SFI 24.1 (??) specification.
A youth sized helmet is smaller and lighter and better for reducing fatigue in the neck.
Vega Trak in youth sizes is CMR2007
Bell has a GP2 youth that meets both CMR and SFIMay 24, 2015 at 7:14 pm #48810
The motor builders will set the carbuerator for the fuel delivery curve that is right for the way the set up their motors. For driveability and maximum power the carb needs to be rich on the bottom and lean-out as the RPMs rise.
So a motor builder will set the pop-off pressure, fulcrum height and suggest needle settings according to experience or on the dyno.
Certain carbs will just flow more air and therfore they make more power but all can be made to run well. Some motor builders will set/adjust the throttle stop position for WOT at the point where the air flow is at its maximum.
I find that regular maintenance like daily disassembly and cleaning keeps it running good and reliably. Also I recommend a good fuel filter as debris really screws with the operation of a pumper style carbueratorMay 15, 2015 at 8:04 am #48280
Cut a piece of fuel line a little shorter than the distance below the mounting tab of the airbox to the chassis tube, then insert one end of a wire tie through the fuel line and around the chassis tube then back through the fule line, then put the wire tie end through the mounting hole and into the locking end of the wire tie and tighte down, now its firmly held in place.January 3, 2015 at 5:09 pm #39839

I move the throttle cable on all my Karts for the same reason.
I mount an L Bracket to the top front bar mount just above and behind the throttle and drill and tap a hole in it for the cable adjuster with cable exit angled towards the pedal as needed. I then route the cable sheath through the origna cable adjuster threaded hole to the new location.April 7, 2014 at 2:25 pm #25223
I think you have a bad battery or a poor connection somewhere in the system. I have a 7 amp hour version and it works just fine on my leopard even after months inbetween sessions as long as I disconnect the battery during storage.March 7, 2014 at 5:28 pm #23448

Thanks for the response. I understand the need for the change in the website for the everything but the forums. I am not suggesting the old site but rather a better more powerful forum software.
Are you sure that making the wordpress Forums work is easier than adjusting a more powerful forum software to match your new website. My understanding is that you can make other forum systems match your website easily. I only know enough to be dangerous though.
I am a karting addict who has gone from racer to sponsor racing with my son so I am not going away, just wanting a better user experience. I hope that happens one way or the other.

I understand that this is your business, but it seems that you have lost touch with who your end or true customer is. You provide a free forum and editorial site to promote karting yes, but the business side for your is the revenue generated by paying advertisers who rely upon us the end user visiting and using your free product to give value to their advertising dollars. So saying you dont care about us the users, our opinions, and experieinces with “YOUR WEBSITE” is wrong. The end users, be it lurkers or posters are what determine the going rate for advertising on your site, the more we visit the more you can charge your advertisers. That makes us the customer.
As you say we can just give up, not visit etc. but what good does that do you or your advertisers. I am certainly not visiting as much, nor spending as much time on the forums as I did, and I can guarantee with 100% certainty I am far from being alone in that regard.
I have posted that I did not like the new format, still dont and never will. I used to enjoy reading the forums and now dread it. Posts that just complain with crappy comments like “new site sucks” are wrong and should be removed and dont deserve to be acknowleged, but someone stating they dont like the new site because its hard to read, or hard to navigate should be acknowledged, not met with resistance because you dont agree. You are the creator and it will be hardest for you to be objective, but you owe it to your readers and yourself to take a step back reevaluate your position.
