An Icon of the Shifter community has passed.

If you were around when Shifter Kart Racing grabbed  high gear in the Mid 90’s, and attended a SuperKarts!USA national event, you no doubt knew the booming voice Jim Murley.  He was the single figure in the modern era of sprint shifter kart racing who was able to get all the various factions of the sport to finally come together under a single banner.   His vision, marketing skills, determination, & most importantly his people skills, took the fledgling Shifter division to heights we only dreamed about.

Though Jim has not been active on the SKUSA scene in recent years, I for one will miss his baritone voice, encouraging words, and infectious smile.  May God bless you and look after your wife Karen and the rest of the family.

J.R. So much of kart racing is comprised of short timers that have no idea who Jim Murley was. What a shame, Jim certainly tried his hardest. RIP Jim.
