I had to split cases to repair a broken water pump impeller. I downloaded the instructions from Rotax on how to do this. Per the instructions they say:

Step 1;”Heat both crankcase halves to 150 C in the convection oven”.

Step 2:”Slide the bearing of the crankshaft into the crankshaft half to the limit stop so the closed face of the cage is facing the crankshaft”.

My question is 150 C works out to around 300 F. right? And I should use a temp gun to check bearing bore temp. The closed face of the bearing is the one with the plastic ball spacer that you cannot see balls. The other side would be the open end because you can see the balls. I just want to double check before I commit to installation.

    Thanks
