I purchased a full-width metal bumper for my Italkart on the italianmotors webstore (I also see a similar one on Acceleration’s webstore.)  A karting friend of mine said my bumper, as installed, was illegal because it did not have a bar coming across the bottom, going from hole to hole. He said that rear bumpers must have this feature to prevent karts from getting under the bumper of mine and lifting the kart. That makes a bit of sense to me; however, I cannot find such a part on either the aforementioned sites, nor do I see one on the Comet website.

My question is if such a piece mandated and, if so, where do I get one?

    Thank you.

Yes, on the metal bumper you do need a bar going across the bottom.

Number 8 in the photo is an example.

adding to Gary’s post, Ital does has the bar and is listed in the parts manual as:

    13 – ITL122 – 610mm REAR BUMPER ROD WITH GROOVES-ITALKART – $20.09

That covers the Supersonic V / Supersonic / Rapido, 100/125. Noticed the one from Comet is 550mm. The Ital is 610.
