New here, new to karts.  I recently came into a cr80 birel kart that needs some love.

I’m pretty mechanically inclined, I’ve been taking my cars and dirtbike apart for a while, but I don’t have too much experience with radiator caps (aside from taking them off and putting them back on).

My radiator cap is missing. For reference, I tried to fit the cap from my kx250 on there, no dice, from my lexus, too big, honda, too big. Went to the local motorcycle and 4wheeler store here and they can only look up parts by vehicle. Looked online, and since radiator caps are $20-30 I didn’t want to just order a few and see what fit.

It is an all black radiator, nothing fancy. I’ll try and post some pics. I took some measurements. Inner diameter2 is taken at the point where the overflow tube hits the bowl.

    Inner diameter: 27mm

    Inner diameter2: 25.5mm

    Outer diameter: 44.75mm

    Bowl depth: 16mm

    John,

Start with going to a kart shop. If you can, bring the radiator with you.  The caps are pressurized with a fitting for an overflow line

Thanks for the advice, I think he closest kart shop is a few hours away so I may be out of luck for a bit. If anyone has any other advice, I’d be glad to hear it. Maybe I can call a shop and get them to find me a cap long distance.

My guess is Freeline. Check with a Birel dealer.

Looks like a large Freeline to me as well – it has the welded brackets in the back?

Awesome! Thanks guys, I just got off the phone with Ryen at Cambrian go karts and that’s what he said. One is one the way. I’ll post results.
