Safety first! While cleaning the rear end, I felt a little bit of “grab” in the rear axle when spinning it, so I went about disassembling everything to clean and rebuild. Turns out it is a good thing I did, as the left side axle bearing was split clean across the inner race all the way up to the set screw. Disaster waiting to happen, I am sure.
