In the interest of total disclosure I am a total nube. If my questions seem dumb, remember I am only trying to learn.

I recently bought a ptk cart that I plan to autocross (solo) with the Mohawk-Hudson SCCA. The kart has dsm front wheels,so my question is what are the benefits and draw backs verse hub mounted front wheels.

    Thanks,Lou

Not much other than you can make the front track width wider than with dsm. Might be a big advantage for certain tires and engine combos.  Also might be a little stiffer with less flex going on.

Exactly as Richard said. You can get a wider front track with hub mount wheels, and the hub stiffens the front spindle slightly, both resulting in more front grip and more weight jacking.
