The second club points race is quickly approaching for Snake River Karters on July 20th. After the astounding opening race weekend at Glen Morgan Raceway in June, the much anticipated memorial races are drawing the attention of drivers from Washington, Oregon and Eastern Idaho. With growing kart classes and an improved racing surface the club is expecting more record shattering performances from drivers in attendance.
Trophies awarded Sunday will be donated by MultiQuip. These one of a kind trophies, designed and produced by David McKay of Boise, are sure to be a favorite in any racer’s collection. The coveted Larry Kurpiewski Memorial trophy will be returned to the track after spending a year in the possession of Wyatt King, the 2013 winner of the 125 Shifter class. Etched on the trophy are those drivers who have mastered the technical track and won the main event named after a legend in the sport of kart racing.
New this year, in addition to the “2014 Return of the Oval” at Glen Morgan Raceway, a race of prestige in memory of past club president and speedway racing promoter, Doug Lindemood. The aptly named “Speedway Challenge” secures the late director’s vision of racing the 1/8 mile bullring by inviting all to step up and drive.
A newly formed class, Junior One L0206, continues to see karts being built by Spirit Karts-Race, Inc. The proprietor of the kart dealership says demand throughout the Northwest for these karts had pushed engines into backorder status from the manufacturer. For competitors who have interest in the L0206 engine package there are two in stock now and orders are being taken, these will move fast so please call for availability.
Gates open Sunday at 8am with qualifying sessions starting after the drivers meeting at 11:30 – Come check out the Kart Racing action!
