I recently bought a 2003 Trackmagic Diablo (I think) 125cc shifter kart, and the new fuel tank that came with it is not the correct unit.  It rubs against the steering.

I can’t find anything, anywhere (!) that tells me what tank is supposed to fit that chassis.  I did find some photos that show a tank that goes thru the uprights, which seems correct since that should give me more room where I need it, but I can’t find any part numbers to make sure I buy the right one.

Can anybody confirm if this unit will work?

    Thanks in advance!

The picture you saw that goes through the uprights is most likely a cadet. They used a pretty standard Reghetti Ridolfi tank from what I remember, you probably just need a smaller tank than what is on the kart.  The person that would know for sure is Greg at Leading Edge Motorsports, they were a pretty prominent TrackMagic dealer.

That looks like the same one I have on my ’99 Diablo. You have to drop the floor pan to remove it.

It should use the KG 8.5 liter tank which is the most common

Yeah you don’t want the one you have to slide into the frame rails.

Thanks for the replies everybody.  I must not have a Diablo then, because the KG 8.5 is the tank I most recently tried and rubs just as badly as the one that came with it:  http://ekartingnews.com/forums/topic/2-shifter-kart-fuel-tanks-7-5l/#post-33906

My frame looks like this guys: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=471301

    I have a CR125R though.

I’ll chime in again when I get it sorted.

I have a 1995 Trackmagic and had the same problem with my tank. I then bought a traditional 8 liter tank with the bolt hole built into the tank, made to screw on a bolt through the uprights. I welded a small plate between the uprights and drilled a hole through the center for the bolt to go through. Fits like a charm now.

Super happy to say the Righetti KS-325 did fit.  I had to smack it into place, which took a little force, but I’m happy to check this off my list.

    Thanks all for your input!

Yeah that’s not an 03 chassis,   that threw me off a bit.  Glad you got it.

    Keith,

The surprises from the previous owner just keep coming.

What year would you estimate the chassis is?

    Cheers,

    Chris

100% its a 2000.   The First year of the Diablo.   99 would be a Demon.   Then you move on to the Diablo II, III, IV and then the FTR from  2005-07.     If you look at ads on Craigslist very few know what year they actually own.
