International kart racing will return to the Gold Coast next week (October 16/17) for the third running of the Race of Stars powered by SuperFest at the Xtreme Karting Complex in Pimpama.

The high-class event will see five-time World Champion Davide Forè, New Zealand International Daniel Bray and young Dutchman Marijn Kremers take on the best drivers from across Australia and a 13-strong team from across the Tasman.

Leading the charge for the Australians will be local Gold Coast driver Chris Hays, Sunshine Coast racer Kyle Ensbey, Bundaberg’s Kel Treseder, Gladstone’s Jason Faint and Melbourne’s David Sera.

Hays won at the inaugural event and finished as the highest placed Australian in the corresponding event last year.  He has got his sights set on toppling his more experienced rivals next weekend in the elite KZ2 class.

Seven classes of competition will be in action ranging from the KA12, where drivers are aged between 9 and 12 years of age, through to the KA Masters for the drivers aged over 35, where it is proof that karting is a sport for all ages.

In excess of 40 drivers will battle for the victory in the KA TaG class while 32 drivers are expected to battle for the prestigious victory in the KZ2 class where they will reach speeds in excess of 160 km/h.

The event will begin on Friday October 16 with practice, qualifying and the opening races before continuing from 8:30am on Saturday October 17.

The Xtreme Karting Facility is located on Pimpama-Jacobs Well Road, Pimpama – exit 49 off the M1. Admission is free for spectators.

About the Race of Stars

The Gold Coast in Australia is one of the most picturesque places in the world and now it has a race that has been designed to attract the best kart drivers from all across the globe.

The Race of Stars powered by SuperFest will see more than 150 of the top kart racers from Australia, New Zealand, Italy and the Netherlands competing at the prestigious event.

SuperFest – an initiative of the Queensland Government, City of Gold Coast and V8 Supercars Australia – is a community events program that provides support to organisations and groups wishing to host events and projects that contribute to the festival surrounding the Castrol Gold Coast 600.

The 2014 event attracted the likes of World Champions Davide Forè and Jonathan Thonon along with Daniel Bray, Lorenzo Camplese, Simo Puhakka, Marijn Kremers and Juan Manuel Correa.  These drivers battled with Australia’s best pilots on a unique fast, flowing circuit that produced some spectacular action.

While the racing is spectacular, just as sensational is the time that can be spent by the visitors in the surrounds on the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast offers some of the best beaches and theme parks in the world – it’s famous for fun!
