Logan Sargeant did what no United States of America driver has done since 1978. This past weekend, the CIK-FIA World Karting Championships took place at the La Conca circuit in Muro Leccese, Italy. Sargeant was among four USA drivers competing in the event, with two in the KF category and two in the KFJ division. Sargeant is completing his final season as a Junior driver, entering the world championship with a solid chance at landing on the podium. Performing well through qualifying and the heat races, the Florida native finished first in his Prefinal and earned the pole position for the main event. The rest is history, becoming the first CIK-FIA World Karting Champion since Lake Speed 37 years ago.
Below is the video coverage of the main event, as you can get a chance to watch Sargeant drive his Ricky Flynn Motorsport FA Kart/Vortex package to the win. Fast forward to the podium ceremonies, it will give you goose bumps, hearing the United States of America national anthem playing as the Red, White and Blue waves in the air and Sargeant celebrates his victory. Stayed tuned to EKN for a full interview with the newly-crowned world champion.
