So Cal Oval Karters Return to Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday

The So Cal Oval Karters will close the “Summer Shoot Out Series” this Saturday night, August 22nd, at Perris Auto Speedway.  Saturday’s event will be the third of four at The PAS in 2015 and it will be the only one under the lights.  The pit gate will open at 3:00 PM on Saturday and the first race will take the Kevin Winters’ green flag at 6:00.

Like the SCOK second appearance of the year at the world famous Riverside County racing facility, Saturday’s race will be on an oval cut into the track’s infield.  The first race at The PAS was on a road course which was also cut into the infield.

Point leader Rob Marion of Oxnard has dominated the action in the KT100’s at The PAS winning both the main event on the road course and the oval.  In addition to the usual talent Marion deals with at every race, USAC/CRA Sprint Car star Brody Roa of Garden Grove indicated that he will be on hand to try and take home the KT100 hardware on Saturday.  Roa, who finished third in the sprint car main event on The PAS half-mile last Saturday night, won the KT100 main event at Wheel2Wheel Raceway in Victorville on May 16th.  At the last race at the nearby Perris Raceway two weeks ago, Cherry Valley’s Troy Patton notched his second win of the year.

The F200’s have only raced on the PAS oval this year and local ace Troy McIntosh posted the victory.  In the last five F200 races, McIntosh has won four of them including the last two in a row.  The only driver to beat him in that stretch was La Verne’s Jason Morheiser who did the trick on July 4th at Wheel2Wheel Raceway.

Bonita karter Matt Martis, who leads the SR4 Cycle standings, and Jason Voss of Lake Elsinore have split the two PAS  main events staged thus far in 2015.  Martis copped the top spot at the road race with Voss the first to the checkered flag at the oval race.  La Verne’s Danny Morheiser won the last SR4 Cycle race two weeks ago at Perris Raceway.

“Hubcap” Mike Collins of Lake Forest and Cody Nigh of Camarillo have been the two top dogs in the first two Perris Auto Speedway events in the Open Class.  Collins won on the road course and college student Nigh triumphed on the oval.  In posting his win, Collins became the only driver in the track’s 20-season history to have won main events in a stock car, sprint car and a kart.  College student Nigh, who has a narrow 30-point lead in the championship standings over Cherry Valley’s Steve Patton, has won three main events this year including the last one two weeks ago.

In addition to the big guys, the youngsters in the JrJr class for kids 5-8 will also be in action.  The Speedway Sprints and Dirt Karts from John Aden’s Wheel2Wheel Raceway are also on Saturday’s program.

After Saturday’s race, the So Cal Oval Karters will take a couple of weeks off before getting back on track at Wheel2Wheel Raceway on September 12th.

The So Cal Oval Karters would like to thank the following sponsors who help make the series possible.  Burris Racing, Cory Kruseman Sprint Car Driving School, Hubcapmike.com, Perris Auto Speedway, Professional Announcer Chappy, R&J Motorsports, THC Home Medical Services, T-MAC Racing and Yoa Racing Engines.  If you would like to become a part of the So Cal Oval Karters 2015 season, please call or E-mail Mike Nigh at (805) 857-2595 or mailto:scokart@gmail.com.
