EKN Constructors Championship – September 9

Tony Kart lead grows exponentially as the season draws to a close

It has been a busy 2014 for karting in the United States, North America, and around the world. Just three months of racing remains for the season, with more major victories and championships still on the horizon for a number of drivers and chassis manufacturers. One title that may be wrapped up early is the 2014 EKN Constructors Championship as Tony Kart is out to a massive lead with four events left on the year.

Tony Kart logoThe three-time defending manufacturer can be seen throughout the paddock around the country as one of the most popular brands in sprint karting. Tony Kart scored the most points in four of the last eight events, including two rounds of the United States Pro Kart Series, the 2014 Cold Stone US Grand Nationals, and the Superkarts! USA SummerNationals. With each triumph for Tony Kart, the lead continues to grow. If you take the total score of second, third and fourth, it still not enough to surpass the total put in by Tony Kart. The only blemish is the Rock Island Grand Prix, with Tony Kart scoring zero points.

The fight for the remainder of the season is for second. Just 202 points separate the brands from second to sixth, currently led by Top Kart. At the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series, #RollBlue continues to lead the charge, and was the top scoring model in the last two events. Top Kart has also shown well in the Junior ranks at the United States Pro Kart Series, earning both championship crowns on the back of Zach Holden and David Malukas. At the SKUSA SummerNationals, Malukas won both main events in TaG Junior.

CRG success continues to come in the shifterkart ranks. Just 12 points from PSL Karting driver Gavin Reichelt at the US Rotax Nationals, S1 Pro Tour point leader Jordon Lennox added two more feature wins at the Modesto Grand Prix. Kosmic drops to fourth, having scored the second highest total at the Cold Stone Grand Nationals, including a tremendous performance by Rolison Performance Group’s Austin Versteeg and runner-up in DD2 by Alessandro Bressan.

Birel remains in the fifth position. Two drivers stood out for the Birel brand in Modesto, with Nick Brueckner on the podium in TaG Junior with defending S4 champion Jordon Musser in the hunt as well aboard his 3G Kart Racing entry. Arrow has moved up one spot to sixth, coming off a win at the US Rotax Grand Nationals with Ken Maxfield in Masters, a couple wins at the USPKS and Rock Island Grand Prix by Tony Jump. While the numbers are small for the KartSport North America, their results are big.

Completing the top-10 are the same contenders, minus one and welcoming a new brand. Intrepid moves down to seventh, with FA Kart up to eighth. GP enters the fray in ninth with Sodi Kart back to 10th. Haase fell out of the top-10, and now sits 13th.
