Growing operation gets even bigger for Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals

This coming weekend, August 1-3, marks the first ever Save Mart Supermarkets Modesto Grand Prix. The excitement that comes along with a brand new event is unique. The chance for racers and teams to be titled as the inaugural winners at a new race adds pressure and suspense to the whole event. With well over 200 drivers expected to fill the paddock in Modesto at this year’s Superkarts! USA SummerNationals, the competition will be closer than ever. Ready to break through and lead the way in Modesto will be the CRG-USA operation and its fleet of 16 drivers. As the American importer for the CRG brand, the Western Colorado operation has been very busy this summer supporting a trailer full of racers.

Reigning Pro Tour champion Joey Wimsett is going to be nothing less than a threat for the win in the S1 Pro Stock Moto class. Wimsett is no stranger to temp courses like the one being built around downtown Modesto. The Oregon racer not only secured the Pro Tour championship in Las Vegas last year, he did so by scoring the victory at the SuperNationals on Super Sunday. As one of the most accomplish drivers in the country, Joey is looking to add to his impressive list of accomplishments with a win in the most unique SummerNats yet. Sabré Cook has experienced becoming the first person to accomplish major milestones in karting. Cook was the first ever female to earn a Pro Tour title back in 2012 as she secured the Pro Tour S2 Semi-Pro title. Following her 2012 championship, Cook graduated from S2 and became the first female ever to race in the S1 Pro Stock Moto category. Sabré drove to a fifth place finish in her first street race of 2014, the Lone Star Grand Prix in Lockhart, Texas.

Returning to the United State to compete in his second S1 Pro Stock Moto event is five-time world karting champion and factory CRG driver Davide Fore. The karting legend was impressive at the SpringNationals in Dallas, as he grabbed a pair of fourth place finishes amongst a very strong field of S1 racers in his Pro Tour debut. Fore enters Modesto sitting in the fourth position in the S1 championship point standings. ‘The Flyin Hawaiian’ Alec Gumpfer and former S4 Pro Tour champion Jimmy McNeil – making his 2014 Pro Tour debut – will complete CRG-USA’s S1 driver roster in Modesto.

S4 Master Stock Moto will feature seven CRG-USA pilots. The most senior of SKUSA shifter racers never fail to put on some of the best racing of the year. Leading the squad of S4 racers for CRG-USA will be none other than Darren Elliott. A motocross racer turned karter, Elliott was among the top contenders in the early years of Superkarts! USA. Elliott – with support from Musgrave Racing Company – jumped back onto his winning ways at the Pro Tour opener, winning Sunday’s feature after earning three wins at the California ProKart Challenge program. The rest of CRG-USA’s S4 lineup features regular team drivers Rob Van Deren, Darrell Tunnel, and Robert Marks, as well as Victor Jimenez, David Levy and Juan Garcia Sienna. CRG-USA will be supporting drivers in all of the Superkarts! USA Stock Moto divisions in Modesto, with Tase Flores in the S2 division along with Evan Roshak contesting S5 Junior.

Not to leave TaG racing out of the weekend, CRG-USA will field two drivers in the TaG Masters category. Current point leader and two-time SuperNationals winner Billy Cleavelin will return back with CRG-USA after a successful SpringNationals. Along with Cleavelin, regular CRG-USA driver Kurt Fisher will be on hand in Modesto after coming off a strong top-10 finish at the Cold Stone US Grand Nationals. Heading to Modesto, CRG-USA Stock Moto pilots will be racing on SwedeTech Racing Engines power plants, and are also very proud to announce AIM Sports as an official sponsor of the team.
