2Wild Karting Victorious at Cold Stone US Grand Nationals
Seeing top threes through multiple classes at races all along the West coast
After announcing earlier in 2014 that 2Wild Karting had signed veteran karter and consistent front-runner Jake Craig, they instantly set their sights on claiming the Rotax national championship. Working hard throughout the first half of the year, the team would eventually travel to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah and do just as planned. Standing on the top of the podium at the end of Sunday’s main event, Jake Craig would be crowned the Cold Stone US Grand Nationals Rotax Senior champion and earn his right to compete with Team USA at the annual Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals later this year in Valencia, Spain.
“What a great weekend for 2Wild Karting,” explained Ryon Beachner. “Showing constant speed throughout the race weekend, Jake was able to improve each and every outing to claim the victory. Carlee Taylor ran at the front of a talented field and Phillipe Denes earned a top ten result in his first event with the team.”
After qualifying well and progressing through the heat races, Craig would start the main event as one of the drivers to beat. Avoiding the first corner melee and jumping to the point, the California resident was off to the races. Turning fast lap after fast lap in his drive to the checkered flag, Craig would score the biggest victory of his karting career.
With three drivers in the Rotax Senior field, it looked as if all of them would score the results that they deserved on Championship Sunday. Female pilot Carlee Taylor showed top five speed and top ten results throughout the heat races and looked to be a threat for a podium result before a first corner incident took her out of the event. Phillipe Denes came home tenth in his first event weekend with the California based squad as well as his first time aboard Tony Kart chassis. Improving each and every on track session, Denes will now set his sights on future races and his hunt for the top step of the podium.
Beachner added, “Everyone at 2Wild Karting would like to thank Tru Tech Racing Engines, RPB Motorsport, OTK USA as well as the rest of our partners and supporters. Without each and everyone of you, results like this would not be possible.”
