Checkered Motorsports – USPKS Pittsburgh Preview
Checkered Motorsports looks to continue their winning ways this upcoming weekend at Pittsburgh International Race Complex for the third round of the United States Pro Kart Series. After a very successful second round of the USPKS, which included a win and multiple podiums, the team will field sixteen drivers in eighteen classes aboard their black and gold PCR karts, gunning for even more hardware in Wampum, Pennsylvania.
John Paul Southern Jr. will be one of the drivers to beat in the sportsman category. The young Ohio driver has already built a stellar resume in 2014, notching multiple wins and podiums at the national level. Southern Jr. looks to keep the momentum rolling and will compete in both Yamaha 100 Cadet Cadet and Mini-Rok 60 Cadet. Ian Hornish will be making his second start in the USKPS aboard his PCR sportsman chassis. The 12 year old has been making tremendous improvements in 2014, notching wins at both the club and regional level. Hornish will be one to watch in the Yamaha 100 Cadet class. First year driver Ian Ditson will make his debut in the USPKS in the Yamaha 100 Cadet class. Working closely with senior driver Andrew Bujdoso in 2014, Ditson has wasted no time in getting himself up to pace. Dawson Crum will be yet another driver making his USPKS debut. The Zero Error Racing driver will compete in Yamaha 100 Rookie.
Ryan Norberg will lead the charge in the junior category. Norberg, a new addition to the Team USA roster after his second place result at the Coldstone Rotax Grand Nationals, will compete in Leopard Junior alongside Nolan Ruocco. The duo finished on the podium in South Bend and look to put their karts up front once again. Sasha Brun-Wibaux will also be competing in Leopard Junior. The TruTV star returns to PIRC, a circuit she hasn’t seen since 2010. Nick Luedeke will be performing double duty in both Leopard Junior and Yamaha Junior. Luedeke is very familiar with the Pennsylvania circuit and will be a threat for victory in both classes, as he finished second at last year’s USPKS event. Savannah Fitzgerald, Jordan Griffith and Evan Fritts will be competing in Yamaha 100 Junior aboard their PCR Superstrillo chassis. Fritts is fresh off his first national podium at the last round of the Manufacture’s Cup Series and looks to add more podium results to his resume.
Robert Bujdoso will make his long awaited return to the seat this weekend in Leopard Pro. The 5-time national TaG champion will be reunited with his PCR Mxk8 chassis, powered by Woltjer Racing Engines. Robert will be joined by younger brother Andrew and AJ Myers. Andrew and AJ both proved they’re two of the top drivers in the nation splitting wins at both the USPKS and WKA Manufacturer’s Cup events held last month in North Liberty, Indiana. Austin Jordan also returns to the seat this weekend utilizing a PCR Mxk8. The Florida driver scored a top 10 finish in his USPKS debut in Mooresville earlier this year and looks to improve on those results this weekend in Pennsylvania.
Francois Brun-Wilbaux will be the lone PCR in the Parilla Challenge Category. The Frenchman sits 3rd in the points currently after finishing on the podium in all four USPKS races so far this season. Francois looks to add podiums number five and six on the season this weekend at PIRC.
“With the number of quality drivers we have driving the PCR chassis this weekend, the team should be able to compete for wins in every class.” Explained Checkered Motorsports owner Csaba Bujdoso. “We are proud to present round three of the USPKS at our home track Pittsburgh International Race Complex and wish all PCR drivers success.”
Checkered Motorsports, the official importer of PCR karts, will be contesting in the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series, GearUp F-Series, USPKS Series, Alleghany Karting Series, and the SKUSA Supernationals. Tech support, transportation, and arrive and drive opportunities are available.
