Briggs & Stratton Raceway Park Next Stop for Route 66 Sprint Series

Route 66 Sprint Series logoThe MG Tire / L & T Manufacturing Route 66 Sprint Series approaches the mid-point of the racing season with a return to the historic Briggs & Stratton Raceway Park on July 12 and 13 for rounds five and six. The event is hosted by the Badger Kart Club (BKC) and sponsored by QPS Employment Group.  On-line registration at www.MotorSportsReg.com will be accepted up until July 6 at $75 per entry.  At the track registration fee increases to $90 per entry.  With the first two events of the Route 66 Series having over 300 entries, a similar turn out is expected at BKC.  Two sets of MG tires will be given away in drawings held at the Saturday driver’s meeting along with drawings for $50 gift certificates from Precision Karting Technologies.  Look for the timeline of the events at Briggs & Stratton Raceway Park to be posted on the Route 66 Series web site at www.Route66KartRacing.com.

After the first four rounds of the season, point battles are beginning to take shape for the season championships.  Leopard 125 Senior currently has Elliot Finlayson and Michael Geringer tied for first place.  Alex Bertagnoli leads Austin Schaff by just 25 points in the Yamaha 100 Cadet class.

Brandon Lemke has a 35 point lead over Emily Hulbert in the Leopard 125 Junior class.  Brandon Klein leads the Briggs & Stratton LO-206 class by 45 points over Matthew Bartling.  A competitor’s best eight out of ten races will count toward the final season points. Bonus points will be awarded to participants who compete in all five events.

A reminder that first time racers in the new Briggs & Stratton LO-206 class will pay only $25.00 to race with the Route 66 Sprint Series the first time they enter the class this year. That is a $50.00 savings over pre-entries.  MG Tires are the spec tire brand for all classes and new tires will not be required for the LO-206 class at each event.  All other Route 66 Series classes will be running under the Route 66 Series rulebook and tech rules that have been posted on the series web site in the downloads section.

Announcements for the 2015 Season:  Starting with the 2015 Racing Season, the Route 66 Sprint Series will switch the Yamaha Junior and Leopard Junior classes to 7.10 MG Yellows from the current 6.00 MG Yellows.  The series has been very pleased with the MG Tire and looks forward to working with them for many years to come.  The Leopard 125 Junior and Senior Classes will remain on the Parilla Leopard Engine only in 2015.  The Komet class for ages 13 and up is on probation for the rest of the 2014 season. If you want this class to remain in the 2015 class structure, we encourage you to run the class this year.  The LO-206 class is also on probation for the rest of the 2014 season.  Again if you want this class to remain in the 2015 class structure, we encourage you and your friends to run the class this year.  The series will be staying with a five event schedule in 2015. The 2015 schedule will be released sometime right after Labor Day.  People wishing to help sponsor the Route 66 Sprint Series in 2015 are encouraged to contact Mark Coats at info@route66kartracing.com.
