Podiums Throughout the Weekend at Coupe du Quebec Round Two for Team PSL Karting

PSL/CRG continues their domination in the Canadian regional series

PSL Karting logoTeam PSL Karting bounced from the first Eastern Canadian Karting Championship (ECKC) weekend in Bowmanville, Ontario at Mosport International Karting, to round two of the Coupe du Quebec the weekend of May 24-25. Arriving at KCR Karting, just outside of Quebec City, with a full team of drivers, PSL/CRG geared up for the next exciting race weekend of their busy summer schedule. As the North American importer and distributor for the potent CRG chassis line, PSL Karting also enjoyed the success of all CRG drivers during the regional event.

Rotax Micro Max, the youngest class running for the weekend, saw driver PSL Montreal pilot Patrick Woods-Toth on the podium in second place after qualifying in fourth and setting himself up in third in the prefinal. Justin Arseneau and PSL Montreal’s Louis-Charles Gelinas also finished in fourth and fifth place positions for the weekend. William Michaud suffered disappointment in the day’s final, having to retire due to a flat tire caused by a racing incident on the start while running in the second position.

In the four-cylinder Briggs & Stratton Senior class, Tommy Lemaire-Ouellet found himself starting from dead last in the final, even after a solid fourth place qualifying effort. Working his way up the formidable 15-kart field, he ended his day in fifth place. Just ahead of him in fourth place finished teammate Mathieu Demers, who had qualified fifth and finished the prefinal in third. In Briggs Masters, family duo Eric and Jean Beltrami scored first and second in their CRG chassis.

The Rotax Mini Max class was dominated by last round’s top finisher Alexandre Legare. Posting the fast lap in qualifying, he moved on, uncontested, to win in both the prefinal and final race. ACM Karting driver Olivier Goupil made it a one-two finish for CRGs with his second place podium result.

In Rotax Junior, Thierry Cote kept in the top-five among competitive drivers. He finished the main event where he had qualified, in fourth position.

The small DD2 class this past weekend saw two Team PSL Karting drivers entered to earn points in the championship. Dominic Legrand finished ahead of teammate Samuel Guerin in the main event to take the win. The DD2 Masters class saw CRG pilot Alain St-Louis come home second while ACM’s Etienne LaSalle claimed the final step on the podium. PSL driver Danny St-Hilaire qualified third, but then dropped back among the competition to finish both the prefinal and final in fourth.

In a very exciting Rotax Senior class, ACM/PSL driver Christophe Paquet made a slow climb from his qualifying position in third to a first place finish in the weekend’s main event, adding to his recent ECKC victory. Teammate Tommy Lemaire-Ouellet also had an exciting finish to his weekend, despite being crashed on the last lap of the final. He posted the fastest lap time in both the prefinal and final, breaking the track record, and had the pleasure of leading the second half of the main event before another driver decided to dive in for a risky pass. Fellow ACM Karting driver Maxime Bousieres also put CRG on the podium with a second place finish at the KCR Karting facility.

Team PSL Karting will next be on track in Canada when the Coupe du Quebec resumes at SRA Karting in St-Roch-de-L’Achigan on June 15 for round three of the series.
