The first kart race to be held at the North CarolinaCenter for Automotive Research (NCCAR) near Roanoke Rapids, N.C., is on tap for this weekend.
The Woodbridge Kart Club is ready to host the event as a WKA regional and the club’s opening race of the 2014 season.
Gates will open at 6 a.m. this Saturday, April 26 with registration opening at 6:30. A mandatory drivers meeting will be held at 8 a.m. and group practice will begin at 8:30. WKC will hold group practice until 1 p.m. to give racers several rounds and the opportunity to test out and familiarize themselves with the two-mile course.
Five race groups will run Saturday and another five groups on Sunday. Practice will be held Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well.
This weekend’s event will serve as a WKA-sanctioned regional before the VEGA / TS Racing Road Racing Series driven by Mazda makes its sixth stop of the 2014 tour at NCCAR August 22-24.
