EKN Constructors Championship – August 9, 2013
Tony Kart extends lead to nearly 200 points over CRG and Arrow
The 2013 season is now over halfway completed with some of the major events of the year now into the book. Looking forward, a number of one-off events are on the horizon, with championships in the minds for many drivers and teams. For the eKartingNews.com Constructors Championship, a year of domination is in the making for the Tony Kart brand as the OTK chassis has extended its lead in the total standings with CRG and Arrow holding podium positions.
Scoring the most points in three of the six events since the latest EKN CC release, Tony Kart is becoming the most successful and popular brands in the country. It was evident at the recent United States Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals, where the Tony Kart scored 65% of the points available. At the second and third stops of the United States Pro Kart Series, the Tony Kart brand was the top scorer once again and continued the streak of scoring points in every EKN CC event for 2013.
CRG remains in the second spot, thanks to a solid winter at the Rotax programs and its shifterkart program at the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour. The SummerNationals saw CRG score the most points of the 17 brands that earned points on the weekend, which was the only event in the new six added to the EKN CC standings that CRG placed in the top-five. Moving up to the third position in the order, in what will be a battle to the very end of the season, is Arrow. Up one from the last release, the Aussie-manufactured chassis earned points in the last six events. Arrow was third in three of the six races, scoring well at the USPKS and US Rotax Grand Nationals.
Fourth through seventh is separated by just 129 points with Birel hold the fourth position. The second most points at the two WKA Manufacturers Cup Series is keeping the Birel brand in the hunt for the podium in the EKN CC standings. Still holding ground from fifth through eighth is Kosmic, Top Kart, FA Kart and Intrepid. Kosmic was tied for second at the SKUSA SummerNationals, while also earning the second most at the recent US Rotax Grand Nationals. Top Kart was the top point earner at the two WKA events once again. FA Kart continues to gain points, earning the third most at the USPKS Dousman event. At the SummerNationals, Intrepid scored half of its points toward the season total and was third overall at the event.
Rounding out the top 10 is the Exprit brand behind DB Motorsports, jumping from 13th to ninth in the order while Italkart made the huge jump from 20th to 10th, thanks to the two victories by Andre Nicastro in TaG Senior at the SummerNationals. ART GP and Haase fall outside the top-10.
