There is only one chance to say you were part of history, when a series hosts its inaugural event. Next weekend will be that opportunity as the United States Pro Kart Series hosts the opening rounds for 2013, presented by GoPro. The site will be the new Mooresville Motorplex in North Carolina, and will serve as the facility’s first major event in its short history. eKartingNews.com is excited and proud to offer its ‘Trackside Live’ coverage throughout the April 26-28 weekend, presented by DRT Racing.

The EKN Trackside Live program is now in its fifth season, visiting the Rotax Challenge of the Americas series and the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SpringNationals – presented by Champion Racing – already in 2013. Coverage includes live play-by-play race call, live timing provided by Race-Monitor.com, coupled with instant updates to the site’s official event discussion forum thread, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. In addition to the live updates, daily reports can be viewed on the site’s homepage.

“It’s very exciting to be part of the inaugural United States Pro Kart Series and to be able to bring it directly to those who are unable to attend,” stated EKN Trackside Live producer David Cole. “We were there for the opening event of the SKUSA Pro Tour in 2010, and have been there for each and every event. The USPKS is something new and exciting for the sport on the east coast, and it will be our honor to provide the best coverage possible.”

Providing the race call on the weekend and for the USPKS series will be former WKA president Randy Kugler. A veteran behind the microphone for many years, Kugler will provide his unique voice for the 2013 season. “I was honored that Mark Coats asked me to be part of his team in the first season of the USPKS. Getting behind the microphone again and bringing the excitement of the race to the teams and fans is something I have always enjoyed doing. There is a tremendous amount of energy surrounding this event. Mooresville will serve as the ground breaking for an exciting series with a bright future. I can’t wait!”

The EKN Trackside Live coverage for the weekend starts Saturday morning once qualifying begins and will broadcast live through the final laps of the main events. The same will be done for the second round of action contested on Sunday. This weekend’s program is presented by DRT Racing, a North American importer of the DR Racing Kart. The operation has a successful resume in sprint racing to road racing, and is currently expanding the popular DR Racing Kart brand across North America. Their in-house engine program, developed by Brian Fisher, provides race-winning powerplants for Stock Moto, TaG, Yamaha and Rotax. Find out more athttp://www.drt-racing.com . EKN would also like to thank KartLift and KartSport North America for their support in the EKN Trackside Live program on the weekend.
